FROM CLUTTERED GARAGE TO A PURPOSEFUL HOME GYM
From demolition to a fully reimagined space - this bathroom was designed to tell a story.
A balance between bold materials, warm tones, and modern elegance.
A once-overlooked garage is reimagined as a highly organized, multi-functional space where fitness, storage and everyday utility coexist.
THE GARAGE WAS NEVER JUST A GARAGE
Over time, it had become a home gym, a storage room, a place for bicycles, household equipment and everything that didn’t quite have a place inside the home. The owners were already using the space to work out, but surrounded by open shelving, exposed storage and equipment competing for every available inch, it never truly felt like a room designed for that purpose.
The challenge wasn’t simply to make the garage look better. It was to make it work better.
THE BEFORE
DESIGNING AROUND REAL LIFE
The answer was organization. Instead of treating storage as something to hide after the room was designed, it became part of the architecture itself.
The existing space had all the right ingredients, but no clear hierarchy. A treadmill, weight-training equipment and workout benches shared the floor with bicycles, storage bins and everyday household items.
How can one garage do everything it needs to do - without feeling like a storage room ?
EVERYTHING HAS ITS PLACE
Full-height black cabinetry creates a continuous storage wall, absorbing the visual clutter that previously occupied the room. Open niches keep frequently used items accessible, while dedicated wall-mounted bicycle storage frees valuable floor space.
A GYM THAT FEELS INTENTIONAL
With storage consolidated around the perimeter, the center of the garage became dedicated to movement. A large mirrored wall visually expands the room, while rubber flooring, dark finishes and linear lighting create the atmosphere of a purpose-built home gym.
Once everything had a place, the garage could finally breathe.
Sometimes transformation isn’t about adding more space. It’s about making the space you already have work harder.
